CARY – Epic Games will be offering a whopping $100 million in prizes as its massively popular battleground Fortnite prepares for a new round of updates and competition. The prize total is called by Fortune as “four times bigger than any esports tournament has ever offered.”

Epic also is planning to offer the game acrcss Android, joining Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Apple, PC and Apple iOS.

“In the 2018 – 2019 season, Epic Games will provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions,”Epic  said in a blog post. “We’re getting behind competitive play in a big way, but our approach will be different – we plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.”

One of the most popular online games to date, Fortinte already says it could be setting the stage for future gaming development by supporting cross-platform action.
