Downtown Durham’s startup campus doubled in size this week as startups moved into renovated space on two upper floors at 201 W. Main Street.
ExitEvent (owned by American Underground’s parent company Capitol Broadcasting) is pretty pumped to be squatting (temporarily) in one of the new offices. Check out our slideshow of the new spaces below.
The expansion happens just a year-and-a-half after American Underground set up shop in the basement and first floor of the building. 205 companies now operate within its campuses in Durham and Raleigh. The move happens as the American Tobacco Campus and downtown Durham celebrate national press in Business Insider this week.
Google also announced that American Underground would be one of three national hubs to pilot its Entrepreneur-in-Residence program for Black and Latino entrepreneurs called CODE2040 One local entrepreneur will be chosen in coming weeks to receive free office space, $40,000 in seed capital, mentoring and a trip to Google in Silicon Valley for other training. Apply online if you qualify.
