Though Adwerx has been profitable since it spun out of ReverbNation in early 2015, the advertising technology startup says now is go-time for even faster growth.

With $4.4 million in new funding and a spot on the Inc. 500, the Durham company led by serial entrepreneur Jed Carlson is ready to grow its sales and business development efforts, and hire more engineers to support enterprise real estate clients and eventually, customers in other verticals.

“It’s a green light to be a lot more aggressive,” Carlson told me. “We’re ready to step on the gas.”

Adwerx has become a digital advertising option of choice for the real estate industry because the firm makes it easy and affordable for Realtors to advertise within a certain zip code on all the web pages and mobile apps that a potential homebuyer visits online or via mobile device.

And a new enterprise tool lets real estate brokerages automatically advertise new listings on behalf of their agents.

Adwerx has served over 50,000 real estate professionals over the last several years, and is ready to turn on its features in new industries too.
