EmployUs is one of the highest profile emerging companies presenting at the CED Tech Venture Conference, given the increasing challenge of finding and hiring the right employees as the unemployment rate shrinks and a shortage of workers with the right skills grows. Here’s the story about the firm, which has strong links to NCSU..

With unemployment dropping to rates not seen in years and more than 6 million jobs available, according to government statistics, EmployUs is aiming to help fill jobs – with the right people.

This app and platform are designed to help companies find workers who come with strong referrals – their fellow workers.

“Companies want to hire more employee referrals because they consistently out-perform hires from other sources like LinkedIn, third party recruiters and job boards in terms of time to fill, cost per hire, and employee retention,” says CEO Ryan O’Donnell.

“However, most companies are still manually running their referral programs with email and excel, which prevents them achieving their hiring goals.”

Enter EmployUs, whose app is already generating a great deal of business – and interest from investors.

Why?

“EmployUs created a powerful mobile and web app to automate employee referral programs that predicts the best candidates in an employee’s networks, in order to boost employee engagement and generate more referrals, so companies make better hires,” O’Donnell says.

The startup has already raised $1.5 million from well-known investors Cofounders Capital, Sovereign’s Capital and the Wolfpack Investors Network. Experienced jobs sector executive Jeff Stocks is backing EmployUs as well.

EmployUs will be presenting at the CED Tech Venture Conference on Sept. 19-20 in Raleigh.
