In conjunction with Always On, Motorco’s Parts & Labor in Durham will host  a free event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to celebrate the initial lineup release, featuring a live performance by Durham lo-fi and found sound producer AWAY MSG. Her performance will be streamed live as a part of Always On, followed by a feed of synth legend Suzanne Ciani’s performance.

The 2018 Moogfest festival is slated for May 17-20 in Durham.

In partnership with Tom Tom Magazine, Moogfest says the livestream will present 50 artists over 50 hours, creating and performing electronic music from around the world, including a home-studio in South Africa and the Moog Factory in North Carolina.

The rest of the 2018 linup will be announced in Janurary.

The “Always On” celebration will continue at the festival in May, with some livestream artists also performing at the event.

They include:

  • Percussionist and activist Madame Gandi. Gandi’s blog and biggest hit are both called “The Future is Female.
  • The “Goddess” of electronic psychedelic soul, Sassy Black.
  • Discwoman’s middle eastern dance experimentalist DJ Haram.
  • Avant pop sound sculptor Katie Gately.
  • Multi-instrumentalist Stud1nt.
  • Former Au Revoir Simone hypnotic synth master, Annie Hart.

Many of the performances will be part of the free and open-to-the-public programming during the festival weekend.

Always On and Moogfest 2018 are presented by United Therapeutics, American Underground, and Moog Music with support from Splice.
