MORRISVILLE – A new Jersey-based firm that provides automation and analytics services to businesses plans to open a technology hub in Morrisville, creating 200 jobs, officials said Monday.

Conduent Inc. (NYSE: CNDT), which spun off from Xerox at the end of last year, will invest $2.7 million in the operation, which will provide services in data modeling, machine learning, artificial intelligence and sensor technologies.

“Given Conduent has a strong relationship in North Carolina already – with more employees here than any other state – opening a new global technology and innovation hub in the heart of the Research Triangle is the right move for our clients and our people,” Chief Executive Ashok Vemuri said in a statement.

Conduent provides services that touch millions of lives every day, including two-thirds of all insured patients in the U.S. and nearly 9 million people who travel through toll systems daily.

The company will add a variety of job functions at the site, including research scientists, software developers, information technology, corporate finance, legal and human resources positions. The average salary will be $100,000, which is higher than the Wake County average of $53,783.

Conduent qualified for a Job Development Investment Grant that will rebate up to $2.1 million in employee withholding taxes over 12 years if the company meets annual hiring and investment targets.
