Who is Mee-Jung Jang, Managing Director of the new MetLife Digital Accelerator, Powered by Techstars?

Mee-Jung Jang majored in computer science and economics at Harvard University and earned a J.D. from Yale University. Between degrees, Jang worked as a qualitative hedge fund analyst at Geode Capital Management in Boston, Massachusetts, and authored Harvard vs. Seoul National University. She served as an intellectual property attorney at Cleary Gottlieb, departing corporate law to found a technology startup to disrupt the wedding industry.

She co-founded and directs Jefferson Investors, a seed-stage angel fund in Hartford, Connecticut, and joined the Techstars team as managing director for the MetLife Digital Accelerator, Powered by Techstars, launching in January 2018 in Cary, North Carolina. Jang is a member of the 21st cohort of the Kauffman Fellows and is active in the Valley Venture Mentors accelerator, 37Angels, Rising Tide Fund, reSET’s accelerator, and the University of Connecticut’s technology incubator program.

Jung will spend roughly half of the year in Cary working to advance the MetLife Digital Accelerator, Powered by Techstars, and half of the year in Hartford, Connecticut, and in other cities across the globe with Techstars to recruit and select startups for the organization’s accelerator programs. In her free time, Jung enjoys scuba diving. During her lifetime, she expects to have the opportunity to travel to outer space.
