CARY – SAS, a global provider of data analytics software and services, will offer training in via classroom instruction and in a virtual lab  that will be established at the FedEx Institute of Technology on the campus at the University of Memphis.

SAS says the center is a “first of its kind” public training center at a university, which will allow students to use tuition reimbursement dollars to SAS training courses.

The Cary-based firm is seeking to help universities train more students in data analytics.

“The SAS training center at the FedEx Institute of Technology will not only help meet the analytics talent needs of Memphis-area organizations, but provide rewarding career opportunities for students and adult learners,” said Sean O’Brien, Vice President of SAS Education.

SAS experts, supported by UofM faculty, “will collaborate to deliver SAS training using both classroom instruction and a virtual lab environment,” SAS and the Institute said in the announcement.

Courses will provide certifications in:

  • SAS Certified Base Programmer
  • SAS Certified Advanced Programmer
  • SAS Certified Predictive Modeler Using SAS Enterprise Miner.

The FedEx Institute of Technology focuses on research and innovation in emerging technologies by supporting cross-campus research innovation clusters. The Institute also is the University of Memphis intellectual property and patent repository as well as technology transfer and licensing operations.
