RALEIGH – Information technology job hunters found more openings in January with nearly 18,000 available across North Carolina, according to a monthly IT jobs report from the North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH).

Total openings climbed to 17,771 from 17,204 in December, according to data compiled for NC TECH. However, the total is 1.7 percent lower than January 2017.

The report also breaks down:

“The January data shows a slight increase in available positions from the previous month, likely due to an uptick in hiring activity that we typically see in the new year,” said Brooks Raiford, CEO of NC TECH.

The organization resumed the monthly IT jobs report last month.

Hiring is most brisk in the Charlotte and Burlington metro areas, the report notes.

The biggest hiring employers were:

  1. IBM
  2. Oracle
  3. ACCENTURE
  4. Bank of America
  5. Computer Consultants International, Inc.
  6. Wells Fargo
  7. Deloitte
  8. General Dynamics
  9. Cisco
  10. BB&T Corporation
