IBM researchers at a lab in San Jose say they have created a plastic molecule that could be effective in combating antibiotic resistant superbugs.
“I think we consider this quite a breakthrough,” Jim Hedrick, a lead researcher at IBM, told San Francisco TV station ABC 7 News.
“We make a synthetic molecule that is specifically designed to attract the bacteria’s surface like a magnet, and once it latches on it effectively kills it.”
