MORRISVILLE – ShiftWizard, which sells healthcare staff scheduling and communication software, has raised $1 million in equity, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Morrisville-based company previously raised a $3 million first round in 2016.  Rolling Hills Ventures out of Nashville and Resolute Venture Partners in Houston led its first round.

Former venture capital investor Joe Velk, who once worked at Intersouth Partners in Durham, is CEO. He came to ShiftWizard from Contender Capital, which he managed for 16 years. He was also a co-manager of the North Carolina Enterprise Fund for 13 years.

WRAL Techwire interviewed Velk at the time of ShiftWizard’s first round financing.
