MORRISVILLE – Lenovo has named Gina Qiao, who most recently was senior vice president of its mobile business group, to replace David Roman as global chief marketing officer (CMO).

Roman, who retired recently after eight years as CMO, led two company rebrands and boosted the company’s smartphone sales after its acquisition of Motorola in 2014. He helped take Lenovo from a well-known Chinese brand to one recognized globally.

Qiao, with Lenovo since 2002, led strategy and planning, a business unit, and was a senior vice president of HR in addition to holding marketing roles.

The company also promoted Bhaskar Choudhuri to regional CMO on the company’s Asia-Pacific team, replacing Nick Reynolds, who has been named global head of marketing for digital, web & social media.

Reynolds now reports to Qiao and will focus on expanding the company’s global digital and social media capabilities.

Lenovo operates two headquarters, one in Morrisville and the other in Beijing.
