Inc.’s “5000” list – the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. based on revenue growth statistics provided by firms to the magazine – includes more than 135 companies across North Carolina.

The Charlotte metro are has the most with 56 firms followed by the Triangle at 49.

Ten firms from Asheville, 7 from the Triad and 6 from Wilmington also made the list.

Wilmington beverage and social app startup Untappd leads the North Carolina contingent, ranked at No. 150.

Its 2,809 percent growth over the past three years led to $8 million in revenue for 2017, Inc. says.

Fastest growing firm in the Triangle is ANEXIO, with $19 million in revenue. The information technology company’s income has soared 1,250 percent since 2015. ANEXIO ranked No. 399.

Tops in Charlotte is app developer Passport at $12.3 million. The startup’s revenues have climbed 1,264 percent. Passport came in at No. 389.

“Collectively, the companies on this year’s list amassed $206.2 billion in revenue in 2017, up 158 percent from $79.8 billion in 2014,” Inc. reported.
