Note: We published this guide last week as part of our continued coverage of the Triangle startup and small business economy. We will be updating this post with new additions to the guide throughout this month and will be expanding the series to cover other startup metros throughout North Carolina starting in September. Future iterations of the project will cover Charlotte, the Triad, Wilmington and Asheville. Stay tuned for more.

This week, the Triangle guide has been updated to include some additional details about First Flight Venture Center’s many startup programs, some new adds to the startup incubators map, a bullet point on the NC Department of Commerce’s One North Carolina Small Business Program, more meetups and events, more resources and additions to other sections of the guide.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Last summer, ExitEvent published an interactive 101-style guide to the Triangle startup community before the publication merged with WRAL TechWire. The guide was meant to be a gateway into the world of startup for twenty-something or student innovators and creatives interested in launching their own ventures here in the Triangle.

The piece quickly racked up thousands of views and plenty of engagement from the Triangle startup ecosystem. Now, just over a year later, TechWire Editor Rick Smith and I have decided to revive the project—adding the programs, facilities and events that have launched or grown over the past 13 months.

The table of contents includes free events and meetups, membership organizations, accelerators and mentorship programs, VC and angel groups, grants and pitch challenges, and more resources for folks interested in starting a company in the Triangle.

In addition to the guide, we’ve added an interactive “Triangle Startup Spaces” map spotlighting the coworking facilities, launch labs and incubators serving the local startup community:

Also, feel free to email me your suggested additions. I will update the post with new additions throughout the remainder of August.
