Are you ready for a drone arista to hand you a cup of coffee? USA Today reports that IBM has secured a patent for a coffee drone that flies around public spaces delivering coffee and even predicts who needs a caffeine jolt.

The drone could be used in an office, café, or at events, according to the filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the newspaper said.

The drones would deliver a preordered brew or individuals could hail it like a taxi. It would respond using facial or voice recognition software, an electronic ID tag, or a Bluetooth connection from a person’s smartphone.

Personally, we’re not so sure we want hot cups of coffee buzzing around overhead, but you can’t stop progress.
