RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Spectrum is opening more than 5,000 WiFi “hotspots” for all wireless users across parts of North and South Carolina that are expected to be hit by Hurricane Florence.

Spectrum recently launched its own wireless service but its WiFi hotspots were only accessible by Spectrum subscribers.

“In support of the preparation for and response to Hurricane Florence, Charter Communications, Inc. has opened more than 5,100 Spectrum WiFi hotspots in North and South Carolina,” parent company Charter announced Wednesday afternoon.

“These hotspots are open to all users until further notice in coastal communities like Wilmington, N.C., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., as well as inland to the Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Fayetteville and Greensboro areas.”

To find WiFi sites, visit Spectrum’s listing site.

“To connect your device, look for the ‘SpectrumWiFi’ network under your device’s WiFi settings,” Spectrum said.
