RALEIGH – Green Energy Sustainable Solutions, which established its corporate headquarters earlier this year in Raleigh, is moving ahead with plans to build a fourth biogas plant in eastern North Carolina.

Also known as GESS International, the company said earlier this week a $35 million plant would be constructed in Robeson County. The facility will create more than 30 jobs, it says.

The Robeson facility is the latest in a series of construction projects that GESS has announced in North Carolina over the past several months. It also plans three solar farm projects in Wilson County.

The latest biogas facility announcement comes ahead of the renewable energy conference set in Raleigh for Oct. 15-18.

In September, GESS said a $30 million plant would be built near Clarendon.

In April, plans were announced for a biogas plant in Wilson County.

Earlier that month GESS disclosed plans for a plant in Nash County.

GESS says it will generate energy from swine wastes and plant silage.

The firm focuses on:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Co-generation
  • Renewable energy sources

GESS has been involved in some 350 projects worldwide, according to its website.
