RALEIGH — A Maryland-based consulting firm that helps bioscience companies with lab and biomanufacturing facilities has opened a Raleigh office and hired a project manager to run it.

Facility Logix of Burtonsville, Md., appointed Tim Howland, a project manager with biotechnology industry experience, to run the new office and to serve the firm’s growing client base in the state.

“Tim has a unique blend of experience in both the biotechnology industry and facility project management,” said Facility Logix President Pat Larrabee. “Lynne Cooper, our director of project management services, reports that our clients are already heavily relying on his support and guidance. We see him as a true asset to Facility Logix.”

“Facility Logix is known for its commitment to quality and is trusted by top biotech and life sciences companies,” Howland said. “I’m honored to be a part of such a team and to have the opportunity to leverage my diverse experience to advance client facility development projects for the biotech industry.”

Prior to joining Facility Logix, Howland was associate director of corporate and foundation relations for the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University’s (Virginia Tech) development department. From 2005 to 2016, he was associate director for the university’s College of Science.

Previously Howland was a project manager for several life science facility projects while working with Scheer Partners Biotech Services Group of Rockville, Md. Before joining Scheer Partners, he was a researcher for both the Institute for Genomic Research and Celera Genomics.

Howland earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Virginia Tech and his master’s degree in biotechnology management from Johns Hopkins University.
