DURHAM – McKinney is adding a managing director role for its Durham office and the agency says a veteran of the firm will be running its operations there.

Taking on the role is Gretchen Walsh, who has worked with McKinney since 2004.

The firm says the new role is in response to continuing growth. It also operates an office in New York.

“Gretchen was the obvious choice for the job,” said McKinney CEO Joe Maglio in the announcement which was made Wednesday. “She’s had an amazing career working across different disciplines and knows the industry and the Durham office inside and out.”

Walsh worked at three other firms before joining McKinney. She has worked in media planning and strategy, account management and served as group account director for McKinney’s award-winning CarMax campaign.

“I’m looking forward to my next challenge at McKinney” said Walsh. “The agency has tremendous momentum, and I believe with my unique perspective — having spent my career in media, strategy and account management — I can help continue to drive growth while inspiring our teams and our clients to create effective and amazing work.”

According to McKinney, Walsh also helped secure several recent accounts, such as Jared, Choice Hotels and ClearChoice Dental. Over the years she has worked with high-profile clients such as eBay, Nasdaq, HP, MTV, Nationwide, Coors and Levi’s.
