CARY — Bold Crayon Corp., an entertainment company, has filed to raise $5 million in an equity offering, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The company still has $5 million remaining to be sold in the offering. The minimum investment accepted from any outside investor is $100,000.

The filing did not specify what the company plans to do with the money.

The Cary-based company partners with top filmmakers to develop, package, finance and produce feature films with broad-market appeal.

Bold Crayon specializes in mid-budgeted productions where more than 100 percent of the budget can be collateralized by a film’s intellectual property, unsold licensing sales projections, pre-sold licensing contracts, incentive agreements, tax rebates and grants.

The company’s most recent movie, “Buffaloed,” is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City from April 24 to May 5. The movie is written by Brian Sacca, an actor from Lockport. He is known for roles in TBS comedy “Wrecked” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Bold Crayon’s CEO Bannor Michael MacGregor produced “Buffaloed” along with two other movies, “Thief” and “Spread the Word,” that are also products of the company.

MacGregor has worked in film production/finance, real estate development, asset management and launching start-ups.

Companies relying on a Reg D exemption do not have to register their offering of securities with the SEC, but they must file what’s known as a Form D electronically with the SEC after they first sell their securities.
