DURHAM – Tergus Pharma plans to add 200 jobs over the next five years and is moving into a new 100,000 square foot headquarters in an investment the company says will total $35 million. The expansion will nearly triple the firm’s workforce.

The new jobs and headquarters reflect the firm’s decision to expand into commercial manufacturing, a spokesperson says.

“This headquarters facility marks an important milestone for our company as we add a new service offering and deepen our relationship with our customers,” said Vijendra Nalamothu, CEO of Tergus Pharma, in announcing the moves.

“We are thrilled to have found a new home that will allow us to grow in Durham, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead for Tergus Pharma.”

The building is located at 4018 Stirrup Creek Road, a site that covers 17 acres in all.

JLL, a professional services firm that specializes in real estate and investment management, worked with Tergus on the acquisition.

Tergus describes itself as an “end-to-end service provider for topical pharmaceutical research, drug development, testing and manufacturing” and says it is a “leading global provider of dermatology Contract Research Organization (CRO) services.”

The firm currently has 70 employees.

Most of the additional jobs will be for the manufacturing addition, which the company says is a “response to client demand.”

Tergus already provides clinical supplies manufacturing.

Its new space will accommodate offices, research and development as well as manufacturing space. The move into the building is set for the first half of 2020.

The current headquarters occupies 20,000 square feet on Meridian Parkway.
