Airbnb is once again  working with home owners, or hosts, who are part of its rental network to provide free housing to evacuees and first responders as Hurricane Dorian approaches the US coast.

So far, Airbnb says more than 1,200 of its hosts have agreed to participate in the program called “Open Homes.”

If you or someone you know is in need of housing, visit this Airbnb website for more information.

The company also is appealing to more hosts to participate.

“If you have available housing in the area indicated on the map [parts of Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennsee, Alabama], please consider making your home available.

The free program began on Saturday and lasts through Sept. 16.

Open Homes has been offered by Airbnb since 2012.

“This concept began organically back in 2012 in the wake of Hurricane Sandy and has since grown into a global disaster response initiative that makes it easy for Airbnb hosts to provide space for people in need when disasters strike,” Airbnb says.

“Since its inception in 2012, the Open Homes program has housed 30,000 people in 61 countries. During the most recent event in the area, Tropical Storm Michael, 1,000 hosts opened their homes.”
