APEX – Heather Chandler, owner of escape room firm Whole Brain Escape, has been selected as one of 125 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) If/Then Ambassadors.

A national initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies, the program seems to further women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by “empowering current innovators and inspiring the next generation of pioneers.

“Becoming an AAAS Ambassador allows me opportunities to share my experiences in the video game industry and get students excited about STEM,” Chandler said in a statement. “If we spark girls’ interests in STEM, then they can become women in STEM who ignite future innovations.” said Heather Chandler.

Over the next few months, Chandler, who has worked in the video game industry for more than 23 years, is expected to connect with students in person and through various media platforms, including YouTube channels and network television shows.

During Heather’s 23-year career in video game development, including over 3 years as senior producer on Fortnite, she’s led teams at Epic Games, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Activision.

She’s launched over 40 games on PC, Console, VR, and mobile platforms and has published several books and articles on Game Production and Development.

Earlier this year, she founded Whole Brain Escape, which produces games where people are locked into a room and have to find a way to escape by finding clues. The company features four room adventures: Bustin’ Out of the Eighties, Escape the Supervillain’s Lair, Seekers of the Mystic Orb, and the Curse of Dr. Conundrum.
