RALEIGHMurphy’s Naturals made a name for itself with its all natural insect repellents.

Now it’s getting ready to expand – and take its earth-friendly mission more global.

The Raleigh-based startup – founded by veteran Philip Freeman — has joined forces with CompanyFirst of Chicago and One Better Ventures of Raleigh to grow the company.

It didn’t disclose the sum of the deal. However, as part of the investment, CompanyFirst’s founder Jason Starr and One Better Venture’s John Replogle (former CEO of Burt’s Bees and Seventh Generation) will serve on the Murphy’s Naturals Board of Directors.

“Our relationships developed over the past few years, and we are excited for new stakeholders and capital that will help grow the business, expand our operations, and continue our success,” Freeman said in a statement.

Murphy’s Naturals creates earth-friendly personal care products made from natural, responsibly sourced ingredients.

Its products are available at a variety of retailers such as Target, Amazon, Grove Collaborative, and the Murphy’s Naturals website.

It’s a Certified B Corporation and 1% For The Planet member, contributing 2 percent of gross revenues to goodwill organizations.

Separately, Freeman launched the co-working space Loading Dock back in 2016.

Its first office is located on Whitaker Mill Road in a former grocery warehouse, and its second on 410 N. Boylan Ave.
