More news and information for entrepreneurs to use in building and growing businesses is available from WRAL TechWire as we continue to make additions to our Triangle Startup Guide.
Also, be sure to check out our extensive calendar listings for December and January, plus our meetups list – all linked at the bottom of this post.
Every Monday, we’re sharing a digest of the changes and additions we make to the Triangle Startup Guide.
Here’s a summary of what we did last week:
- We updated the inspiration/more resources page to include a listing for BLNC (Business Link NC), a program offered as an extension of the NC Department of Commerce. The service provides one-on-one consultations to people interested in starting a business, small business owners in need of general support, and entrepreneurs interested in moving to North Carolina. It also helps business owners navigate topics like regulatory requirements, licensing stipulations and small business training.
- We also added UNC’s KickStart Commercialization Grant Awards to our competitions/grants/more funding section. From UNC’s Office of Technology Commercialization, this quarterly grant program offers $5,000 to $50,000 in non-dilutive funding to assist UNC faculty-led startups in commercializing their products. Heads up: The next round of KickStart applications are due January 31.
- We added the new 2020 FAST Program from First Flight Venture Center to the accelerators/mentorship programs page. Beginning next year, the first FAST cohort will include up to 30 science-focused companies who will receive an extensive grant-readiness evaluation bootcamp in February 2020, as well as expert coaching and mentoring on developing a competitive SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) / STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) phase 1 application. If you’re interested, the deadline to apply is January 15.
