ASHEVILLE – “Easy to create, simple to promote and sell.”

That’s the tagline for SimpleTix, a ticketing tech company based out of Asheville, North Carolina.

Founder Aron Kansal suggests his service is an alternative to high-priced, “cookie-cutter” eticketing solutions like Eventbrite and TicketLeap – and local vendors are starting to take notice.

This year, organizers for Buncombe County’s annual Lake Julian Festival of Lights switched from its standard provider to SimpleTix, which promised lower rates with flat-fee pricing.

The result: a record turnout, with almost 1,300 attending the ornate light display installed around Lake Julian Park.

“Part of the increased attendance was due to lower ticket prices,” explained Kansal, who appeared in person to help manage the event.

“Because the county saved money on fees, it was able to pass those savings along to event-goers in the form of lower ticket prices.”

Organizers can also use SimpleTix’ Box Office app to manage everything related to the event from their phone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Among its features: tracking up-to-the-minute ticket sales and attendance, retrieving information for check-in, taking secure payments through Square, scanning tickets and monitoring attendance in real-time.

“It couldn’t be easier to run an event with SimpleTix,” said Chris Bubenik, Buncombe County Recreation Services’ marketing generalist.

“From setting up our festival to scanning tickets, every step of the process is intuitive. The SimpleTix team also provided personal attention to ensure success. Plus, we were able to receive instant payments instead of waiting weeks for a check.”

The partnership was so successful that Buncombe County intends to work with SimpleTix for additional events throughout the year, he added.
