AUSTIN — Atom Power, a Charlotte-based startup behind the first commercially viable solid-state circuit breaker, has been nominated for an Innovation Award at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals.
Presented by Sprinklr, the recognizes the most exciting tech developments in the connected world across 13 different categories.
Power — founded in 2014 for the purpose of revolutionizing commercial and industrial power distribution through the development of solid-state switching technology — is the only North Carolina company to be get a shout-out. It is competing in the “Smart Cities, Transportation & Logistics” category.
“The forward-thinking breakthrough projects in this year’s Innovation Awards lineup will spark a new level of wonder and inspiration within the SXSW creative community and further illustrate how technology can shape our future,” said Hugh Forrest, SXSW chief programming officer, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to welcome these creators to SXSW and give them a platform to showcase their inventions with hands-on experiences for all SXSW attendees.”
SXSW is annual conglomerate of film, interactive media and music festivals is set to run from March 13-22 in Austin, Texas. Innovation Award winners will be announced on March 16.
Nonny de la Peña, CEO and founder of Emblematic Group, will also be inducted into SXSW Innovation Awards Hall of Fame.
