RALEIGH – If you are looking for free or lower-cost alternatives for internet and mobile services, the North Carolina Broadband Infrastructure Office has something it says will help: A new interactive map to help find connectivity.

The map is available via this link.

With schools closed and many people forced to work for home, the search for access is a big one.

“North Carolina is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with everything we’ve got,” Tracy Doaks, NC Department of Information Technology secretary and state chief information officer, said in a statement. “In these uncertain times, more and more of our residents are being asked to work and learn from home, making access to reliable and affordable high-speed internet more critical than ever.”

The map is updated daily and includes free public Wi-Fi access points, the broadband office said.

Service providers are encouraged to submit information about their offerings to the state via this website.
