DURHAM – Economic development foundation NC IDEA is giving 16 emerging startups aross the state a boost with $10,000 grants through its NC IDEA MICRO program.

This is the fourth round of the grants. The program launched in 2018 and so far has backed 61 companies.

“Working with these young companies, we hope to support their entrepreneurial ambition, which will be desperately needed to rebuild our economy,” said Thom Ruhe, President and CEO of NC IDEA. “This demographically and geographically diverse cohort of grantees embody equal parts of optimism and resilience, and are a great inspiration to others during these challenging times.”

Some 171 companies applied for the grants. The recipients were selected after a three-month review process.
