PINEHURST – Job losses continue to mount as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
However, a new startup founded out of Pinehurst is aiming to reverse that trend and put people back to work.
Introducing Rakemates, a lawn care subscription service that is designed to hire people who are financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During the previous two months, I’ve been on a personal mission to keep people employed and offer employment for people who need work,” said founder Dr. Michael Barbera, chief behavioral officer at Clicksuasion Labs, a Pinehurst-based behavioral science marketing firm.
“This challenge has not been easy.”
Launched this week, the startup offers a range of services, including trimming, clearing/blowing, small debris removal, mowing, pet waste removal and more.
There are three packages to choose from, with each crafted to a neighborhoods needs.
To date, the startup has hired six workers based in Moore County, North Carolina.
“Together, we will keep our neighbors employed,” said Barbera.
