CARY – Kronoverse, a Cary-based startup developing a platform by the same name and a 3D role-playing game called CryptoFights, has secured further funding.

The capital injection arrived via technology investment firm Persimmon Hill Ltd. and technology entrepreneur Calvin Ayre. This is Persimmon Hill’s first, and Calvin Ayre’s third, investment in Kronoverse, the company announced Tuesday.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2018, the Kronoverse platform is creating a new world of competitive gaming by combining blockchain technology with online gaming. Built on Bitcoin SV, Kronoverse is a monetization and technology platform that helps game developers thrive in the fast-growing esports industry.

Last June, the startup, under the business name Thoughts in Motion, raised more than $550,000 in debt from one investor, according to a recent SEC filing.

Earlier this year, Kronoverse completed its second round of beta testing for CryptoFights, a skill-based strategy fighting game. It also confirmed in March a partnership with one of the the world’s largest esports companies ESL to help develop its game and platform.

“The growth we’ve seen in a relatively short time is hugely encouraging for the company and, obviously, we hope that makes CryptoFights an exciting proposition for investors,” Kronoverse’ founder and CEO Adam Kling said in a statement.

“To have people with the business and blockchain knowledge of Persimmon Hill coming on board, and further support from online gaming entrepreneur Calvin Ayre who is also a big believer in Bitcoin, is a clear endorsement for a transparent eSports experience.”
