CARY – Amazon will be bringing “hundreds” of jobs to Cary for a new “Delivery Station,” according to an announcement from the Cary Chamber of Commerce made late Monday.

The site, which is to help the ecommerce giant speed up deliveries, will open in “coming months,” the Chamber said.

Amazon also is in the process of opening a retail store at Crabtree Valley Mall.

“We look forward to having Amazon be part of our community and corporate family in Cary and will be assisting them in
any way needed, as they make their transition into Cary,” said Mark Lawson, Vice President of Economic Development
for the Cary Chamber, in the announcement.

“The strengthening of supply chains and providing consumers and businesses with fast and efficient delivery services is more critical now than it ever has been, and we are greatly appreciative of the commitment and investment Amazon is making into the Town of Cary.”

Amazon operates a number of facilities across the Triangle and the state, including a mammoth warehouse in Garner. Other facilities are being added and the company is looking to hire hundreds of workers.

“Amazon’s Delivery Station in Cary expects to hire and employ hundreds of associates as they ramp up their operations in 2020,” the Chamber said.

Amazon has added more than 100,000 workers to help deal with an increase in demand triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Amazon has been one of the key lifelines to so many during this terrible pandemic, and we’re grateful to them for that as well as their decision to locate a portion of their logistics operations in Cary,” said Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht.
