DURHAM – Arbiom, which touts itself for “wood-to-food” technology and says it is “pioneering the future of food with technology that converts wood into an alternative protein source for animals and humans,” has $10 million to further advance its plans.

The company disclosed in a securities filing on Wednesday that it has raised just north of $10 million from three investors.

“We’re already using wood for our buildings, furniture, floors and more… Why not re-imagine wood as food?” So says the firm at its website.

Arbiom is developing several different products, including for use in acquaculture and animal feeds.

“Arbiom’s team brings a range of expertise, including animal nutrition, bioprocessing technology, business development, engineering, fermentation and molecular biology,” the company says.

“This diversity and depth is critical for Arbiom’s continued success scaling-up Wood to Food technology and commercializing its first product: SylPro.”

Marc Chevrel, who is the firm’s CEO, signed the securities filing.
