RALEIGH – Good news for people seeking high-tech jobs across North Carolina: Openings surged in July and are nearly back to pre-pandemic levels.

So says the NC Technology Association in its latest jobs report.

Openings climbed to more than 27,100 – the highest in four months and just 800 belowSeptember of 2019. They are 5,000 higher than a low of 22,485 in April.

Available jobs reached more than 30,000 each of the next five months before the COVID-19 pandemic struck in late March.

“After declining sharply over the course of April and May, North Carolina IT job openings in June were up moderately, and up again in July,” said Brooks Raiford, CEO of NC TECH, in a statement.

NC’s overall jobless rate stood at 7.6% in June. July statistics are due in the near future.
