DURHAM — Female founders, listen up. The Bull City is among the top cities in the US for women entrepreneurs.

That’s according to a new report from Fundera, an online financial resource for small businesses.

Out of the 15 cities that made the cut, Durham ranked No. 7.

The reasons: a large percentage of self-employed women business owners, relatively low housing costs, and job growth numbers (before the pandemic), “which portend a bright future for the city’s workforce,” the report noted.

However, despite its high ranking, Durham still has room to grow.

Only 2.1 percent of the city’s women are employed in their own business, and the earnings gap between men and women business owners approaches 30 percent, the report added.

Seattle, Washington nabbed the top spot, followed by Paradise, Nevada and Orlando, Florida.
