DURHAM – Sixteen startups from North Carolina have been selected to receive grants of $10,000 in the latest round of NC IDEA MICRO grants from the NC IDEA Foundation.

The winners are:

“Spanning cleantech to consumer products to medical devices and software, this group is a great representation of the diverse economic potential of the state,” said Thom Ruhe, President and CEO of NC IDEA, in the announcement. “For many of these young companies, it is their first external validation that they are pursuing something that can become a great company; and it is very rewarding for us to help them on that journey,” Ruhe concluded.

The grant winners were picked after a three-month competitive process from among 161 applictants.

NC IDEA has awarded in all $770,000 to 77 companies through the program.
