DURHAM – Expectations for more high-tech jobs and continuing growth in openings are key factors in keeping the Durham-Chapel Hill metro area at the No. 13 spot for the second straight year in the annual “Tech Town” report from business trade group CompTIA.

A spokesperson stressed two key factors for the ranking:

  • 22,124 posted job openings over the past year
  • Expectations of a 4% increase in jobs over the next five years

Nearly 4,000 open IT jobs were listed in the Durham-Chapel Hill area in September, according to the NC Tech Association.

Raleigh came in third this year while Charlotte placed fifth.
