RALEIGH – CBRE|Raleigh announces it will launch a shopping center and retail mixed-use investment sales platform based in Raleigh. The service line will focus on multi-tenant retail investments and expand the practice currently led by Mike Burkard and Steve Shields in CBRE’s Charlotte office. Mike Burkard, Senior Vice President, started the Carolinas Retail Investment Properties Team in Charlotte in 2000 and with Shields has arranged the sale of 215 shopping center investment properties valued in excess of $2.5 billion.

Charlie Coyne will lead the efforts for CBRE|Raleigh as director of retail services, working closely with Burkard. In Raleigh, Coyne and an existing 9-person retail team will add a capital markets niche to their practice and focus on the sale of shopping centers, mixed-use properties and urban assets representing buyers and sellers. According to Coyne, “I have known Mike since I was in the retail REIT industry in the early 2000’s and look forward to growing our retail investment sales platform with our respective teams in the Carolinas. We look forward to assisting existing clients and new clients in their investment needs and see great opportunities in this rapidly evolving retail environment.”

“The Triangle is one of the most desirable retail investment markets in the country and our collaboration with Charlie and his team provides us with unmatched insights into the local market. The Carolinas are growing rapidly, and we want to assist our clients in navigating the market with the best expertise available,” said Burkard.

“CBRE|Raleigh remains committed to its clients and is constantly evolving to provide world-class services. The addition of the Retail Investment Sales platform addresses a niche area of Raleigh-Durham’s commercial real estate market that we believe needs to be served. We are excited to partner with Mike and Steve and offer our local market expertise to expand this sales platform into the Triangle,” said Senior Managing Director Tom Fritsch.

CBRE|Raleigh now formally offers retail capital market services including property valuation, investor merchandising & repositioning strategy, seller representation, buyer representation, and urban & mixed-use advisory. This investment sales business line will add to CBRE|Raleigh’s market leading retail team that currently leases over 10,000,000 square feet of retail assets and advises over 40 active retail and restaurant tenant clients. Local Triangle retail team members include Charlie Coyne, Tiffany Barrier, John Burleson, Reagan Crabtree, Kerri Dunlevy, Matt Larson, Cori Nix, Jon Stanley, and Cristi Webb.
