“A city of the future” and a “reformed version of capitalism” are the lofty goals set by Marc Lore, who is leaving his job as head of ecommerce efforts at Walmart.

In an exclusive interview with Recode, Lore said his ambition is nothing short of radical.

“It’s a new model for society we’ll be testing,” he told Jason Del Rey.

“Imagine a city with the vibrancy, diversity and culture of New York City combined with the efficiency, safety and innovation of Tokyo and the sustainability, governance, and social services of Sweden,” reads the vision statement for the project, Recode reported. “This will be our New City.”

Lore is a serial entrepreneur who sold Jet.com to Walmart for $3 billion four years ago then took on the new Walmart online effort.

He’s leaving Walmart at the end of the month, Del Rey reported.

“Imagine a city with the vibrancy, diversity and culture of New York City combined with the efficiency, safety and innovation of Tokyo and the sustainability, governance, and social services of Sweden,” reads the vision statement for the project. “This will be our New City.”

“This is going to be a lifelong project,” he added. “It’s the thing I’m most passionate about.”
