As WRAL TechWire reported last week, the new norm of remote work has led many outside companies to flock to the Triangle searching for a highly-skilled tech workforce. At the same time, the region’s existing startups are boosting the size of their workforce to meet the increased market demand for tech-enabled services.

Recognizing the heightened demand for tech talent across the Triangle area, WRAL TechWire is introducing a new weekly feature to keep our readers posted on local job and internship opportunities.

Every Monday, we will round up the latest information from the region’s top job boards, offering a breakdown of how many jobs are posted, which companies are hiring and for what positions.

We’ve also included upcoming job fairs, student-centric resources from local colleges and universities, and a list of Twitter accounts that track local job openings.

Bio Jobs Hub

WRAL TechWire and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center recently unveiled a Bio Jobs Hub platform focused on biopharma manufacturing—one of North Carolina’s largest industries, employing over 26,000 people.

Typical biopharma jobs are process technicians, maintenance and/or instrumentation technicians, quality assurance and quality control associates, process development scientists and process engineers. This industry also offers competitive entry-level salaries, from $48,000 to $60,000.

Scientists, skilled laborers and recent graduates can use the Bio Jobs Hub resource to find career and training opportunities in their area. Users can search by location, job category/activity and region.

Over the past week, Deutsche Bank has posted several open positions for its Cary office: Senior full-stack engineer and vice president, cloud engineer and assistant vice president, java developer and assistant vice president, lead cloud engineer and vice president, and functional business analyst. Durham-based app development studio CrossComm is also hiring for two positions: A senior back-end developer and a senior mobile developer.

NCWorks

NCWorks is a statewide job search portal run by the North Carolina Department of Commerce, with nearly 100 career centers located across the state. More than 2,500 resumes were updated on the site over the past week, with over 130 new jobs posted on Sunday, Feb. 7.

Users can search by keyword, location, occupation group or specific occupations, minimum acceptable salary, education level, job sources and date posted.

The site has a COVID-19 job board that lists companies hiring to fill immediate technical and healthcare needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to NCWorks’ homepage, the top-advertised occupations are for registered nurses, heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers, food preparation and serving workers (and first-line supervisors), and retail sales workers.

North Carolina military veterans, transitioning service members and spouses can find additional resources on NCWorks’ separate veterans portal.

NCWorks also has a mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
