RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – From early-stage startups to multinational corporations, Triangle-based employers are hiring at a hot pace, according to sites and data reviewed for WRAL TechWire’s exclusive Jobs Report that is posted each Monday.

As we reported Friday’ North Carolina’s unemployment rate continues to drop.

And here are the 10 hottest occupations for jobs, according to the IT Job Trends report from the NC TECH Association:

North Carolina ranks No. 3 in lowering jobless claims; unemployment rate drops again

The latest IT Job Trends report validates this momentum as it applies to high-tech IT jobs. Over 33,500 IT job openings were posted across North Carolina in February, up from 31,522 listings in January and marking a 50% increase from last May at the lowest point in the pandemic. The Raleigh-Cary metro recorded 12,234 IT job postings last month, leading other areas across the state.

High-tech job openings in NC soar above 33,000 – Raleigh demand surges 36.5%

The top hirers last month were Oracle, IBM, IQVIA, Wells Fargo, Cisco, Red Hat, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SYSTEL and HCL Technologies, per NC TECH data.

Overall, North Carolina’s unemployment rate currently sits at 5.7% as of February 2021. This figure represents only a small drop since January, but it’s still 2.1% higher than February 2020. Still, WalletHub recently reported that North Carolina ranks third in lowering unemployment claims over the last year.

AMA Triangle

AMA Triangle, the fifth-largest chapter in American Marketing Association’s nationwide network, aims to be a go-to resource for all things marketing in the Triangle—serving more than 470 members. AMA Triangle provides professional training, free career webinars and a job board offering free resume placement for marketing professionals. Every month, it hosts a free “Transitions Mastermind” program for job seekers and those seeking advice on career improvement.

  • Bandwidth is hiring a VP of revenue marketing and a paid search manager in Raleigh.
  • In Cary, Verizon is hiring a field marketing manager for manufacturing, energy and utilities.

American Underground

Durham-based startup hub American Underground regularly posts job openings on its job board. Job seekers can filter their search by skills, position level (c-suite, co-founder, entry-level, mid-level or senior-level), job type (full-time, part-time or intern), job classification (1099 or W2), and work location (on-site, flexible or remote).

NEW JOBS:

Three new jobs were added to AU’s job board since last week’s jobs report:

  • Durham-based digital storytelling startup Looma is looking to add a story success manager to its team.
  • Policygenius, a New York-based insurtech startup that established a second headquarters in Durham last year, is currently hiring an HR business partner and a revenue associate.

NCWorks is a statewide job search portal run by the North Carolina Department of Commerce, which has nearly 100 career centers located across the state. Users can filter NCWorks’ database by keyword, location, occupation group or specific occupations, minimum acceptable salary, education level, job sources and date posted. NCWorks also has a mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The site’s COVID-19 job board lists companies hiring to fill immediate technical and healthcare needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Carolina military veterans, transitioning service members and spouses can find additional resources on NCWorks’ separate veterans portal.
