MCLEANSVILLE – Telecommunications service provider Conduit Global has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice with the North Carolina Department of Commerce saying company could conduct permanent layoffs of up to 173 of its employees in the Greensboro area within the next 60 days.

Tina Hawk, a spokesperson for the company told WRAL TechWire by email that the decision was “due to the unforeseen loss of business.”

According to the notice filed with the Department of Commerce, the company is in the process of “attempting to ensure the continuation of certain business activities,” which if it is unsuccessful would mean “it will become necessary to close down all or substantially all of the Company’s business activities in its 5420 Millstream Road, McLeansville, North Carolina, 27301 location and permanently lay off all or substantially all of its employees at that location.”

That would include all employees physically located at the office location and those working from home but affiliated with the location, the notice said.  The closure and the layoffs are expected by the company to be permanent, the company said.

“In an effort to assist impacted employees, the company will work with the North Carolina Division of Employment Security to connect employees to the services available to them,” said Hawk.

Those affected will include 147 wireless care representatives, the call center director, two human resources administrators, and other employees and managers.
