Code for Durham: Civic Hacking Session

June 1, 6-7:30 p.m. (online)

Code for Durham brings together technologists, designers, developers, data scientists, map makers and activists to collaborate on civic technology projects. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

Application Deadline: CCE 2021 Velocity Accelerator

June 6

Applications are open for the Center for Creative Economy’s next Velocity Accelerator cohort. Throughout the 10-week program, founders will work with mentors and industry experts to refine their business model, analyze their market, prepare a financial forecast, construct a launch plan, and develop an investor pitch.

Application Deadline: 2021 New Ventures Challenge

This year’s New Ventures Challenge program will feature four tracks: Health/Wellness/Nutrition, AgTech, B2B Software, and Come Up for Minority Founders. ProductCamp RTP is teaming up with multiple chapters nationwide to host a free, virtual “unconference” for entrepreneurs, startups, innovators and anyone who builds, designs, markets or manages a product or service worldwide.

RIoT LVIII: Connecting Rural Communities to the Global Economy

June 15, 4-5 p.m. @Gig East Exchange in Wilson

RIoT is celebrating the launch of the Gig East Exchange in Wilson, as the organization continues its expansion into the eastern North Carolina region. Join this event to learn how the City of Wilson, RIoT and local startups are leading eastern North Carolina’s growth.

Red Hat Summit 2021

This year, Red Hat’s annual summit is a two-part, virtual experience with small-scale events planned for later in the year. The first part occurred last week. This month’s two-day program will feature breakout sessions and technical content geared toward the tracks and topics most relevant to your career.

NC4ME & Sandhills NCWorks Virtual Hiring Event

Application Deadline: UNC TraCS $5,000-$50,000 Grants

UNC’s North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS) provides one-year research grants of up to $25,000, requiring 50% matching funds by campus departments or partner institutions. The program supports new research projects as they capture preliminary data before seeking future funding.
