RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Michael Bradshaw, a native of Durham, UNC Chapel Hill graduate and a veteran tech executive, will be the new chief information officer at Kyndryl, the upcoming spinoff from IBM.

Bradshaw currently is CIO at NBCUniversal where he leads a team of some 1,500 people. He has worked for IBM before, including vice president of IT infrastructure optimization, according to his LinkedIn page. His Big Blue career stretched more than 23 years.

Kyndryl announced Bradshaw’s selection Tuesday evening. He will report to Martin Schroeter, Kyndryl’s recently named CEO.

The spinoff of IBM’s managed infrastructure service business is expected to be completed later this year.

“In Michael Bradshaw, Kyndryl is fortunate to work with a veteran CIO who has held top jobs with companies like NBC Universal and Lockheed Martin,” Schroeter said in a statementl. “Michael knows how to leverage technology and talent to drive business results, and he will help our teams advance the vital systems that power human progress for our customers.”

Bradshaw is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, having earned a degree in business administration and a Master’s in computer science.

He has worked at NBCUniversal for nearly five years as CIO. Previous experience included a CIO for mission systems and training at Lockheed Martin.

Kynrdyl recently named two other executives:

  • Elly Keinan, a former general manager of IBM North America who has been a venture partner with Pitango Venture Capital in israel, will serve as “NewCo” group president.
  • Maria Bartolome, a veteran IBM executive with many Triangle connections, will serve as chief marketing officer.
