CARY – SAS has a new chief marketing officer.

Jenn Chase has been appointed to the role of executive vice president and chief marketing officer.  Previously, Chase was a senior vice president and head of marketing for the company, a role she filled a few weeks prior to the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic, and this leadership position is the latest for Chase in her 20-year career at the Cary-based company.

“Marketing is a big part of our growth engine, and Jenn recognizes the link between strong marketing strategies and business success,” said SAS CEO and co-founder Jim Goodnight.  “She is a leader who makes bold, smart choices that pay off immediately.”

The company unveiled a new brand campaign earlier this year that is based on the concept of curiosity.

At the launch of the brand campaign, Chase told WRAL TechWire that SAS made a decision to update its strategic brand messaging to position the company as “a clear leader in a very noisy market.”   The campaign is positioned to go beyond demand generation and enhance brand awareness of the company as both the founder and the future of analytics, Chase noted.

The state of SAS: After 5 years of flat revenue, growth may be returning in 2021

“The analytics space is more crowded and misunderstood than ever,” said Chase. “The market is crowded with both incumbents and new startups all talking about analytics. There’s both a lot of hype and excitement around the potential of analytics.”

The company confirmed to WRAL TechWire that it had experienced growth in the first quarter of 2021, ahead of the company’s annual event, the SAS Global Forum.  And the company experienced nearly 99% growth in its cloud analytics business in 2020, as the company formed a partnership with Microsoft.

“I believe in the power of data and analytics to find ‘aha!’ moments in life and business. Our infinite curiosity fuels our creation of the world’s leading and most trusted analytics. It’s what drives us to constantly unearth new insights and inform better decisions,” Chase notes in her biography, published on the SAS website.
