WILSON – There is a shelf in my home that showcases a disappointing collection of sad, decrepit plants.

The difference between me and my grandmothers is that they took time and effort to give their plants the proper environments to not just survive, but thrive. I, on the other hand, have yet to move past my article reading and on to care and execution. I place my pots based on what is most aesthetically pleasing, rather than what area is best lit. I forget to water my plants for weeks, and when I finally remember I over water them. How can I expect my plants to grow when the environment I give them is set up for failure?

Plants are a lot like people. If we want to lead healthy, successful lives we have to give ourselves the proper environment. As we move into a post-pandemic period, now is the perfect opportunity to reevaluate what kind of environment we are rooted in.
