CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte startup launched to help deepen long-distance relationships, LDR Dates, will join the Techstars Atlanta cohort.

The co-founders, both with experience in long-distance relationships, launched the virtual dating platform to benefit those who aren’t able to see their partners in person.

The company was selected to join the cohort after a six month process that involved Techstars meeting with more than 1,000 company founders and reviewing hundreds of applications, the organization said in a statement.

LDR Dates offers date night products, delivered virtually, for about $30, including an ‘aquarium’ date, the ‘starry night’ date, and ‘the museum of fossilized intent.’  Once purchased, the date never expires, and partners can access the date at any point in the future.

“Research shows that spending 3.5 hours of quality time per week with your partner dramatically increases happiness in a relationship,” the company’s FAQ website reads.

“A date is more than just exploring a virtual world,” reads the website.  “We have a variety of in-date experiences from interactive activities, to relationship challenges to help you learn more about yourself and your significant other.”

The company is hiring for a marketing position.
