RALEIGH – The Startup Grind organization is recruiting for a new chapter director in the Triangle, according to an email sent by the organization earlier today.

Startup Grind is recruiting chapter leaders, who will join a cohort of other chapter leaders for additional training that starts in September, with the deadline to apply listed as August 27, 2021.

The organization in the Triangle was previously led by Mark Bavisotto. He left and cofounded the Startup Summit, which is planning a September event in the region.  Bavisotto left the role of chapter director in December 2018, according to a LinkedIn profile.  WRAL TechWire reported on this move in January 2019.

The Startup Grind website does have an active listing for a Raleigh chapter, listing 47 members as a part of the group.

According to the organization, the ideal candidate for a chapter director is “someone who would like to step up.”  The chapter director is expected “to support your community by hosting in-person or virtual events each month,” according to the email.

The Startup Grind website and FAQ section describes the role as one that would take “not more than 20%” of a chapter director’s available time, and though there is a form of revenue sharing with the organization, that “most Chapters operate at a break even, if run properly.”

The organization runs two chapter director cohorts each year, according to its website.
