Zooming out from the Triangle, the national job market appears to be pulling back some of its previous momentum. Last week, payment processing provider ADP reported that private companies added about 330,000 new positions nationwide in July, a significant drop from June’s total of 680,000.

However, Monday morning, the Labor Department reported a record number of job openings: More than 10 million.

Like ADP, the labor department noted significant gains in leisure and hospitality, local government education, and professional and business services.
