DURHAM – Policygenius, which holds joint headquarters in New York City and Durham, is adding to its executive team, hiring Matthew Mak as head of revenue operations.

Mak joins the company following a leadreship role at Better, an executive role at Wolters Kluwer, and a founding member of a line of business for Opera Solutions.

Policygenius employs 600 employees with plans to hire more in North Carolina, and raised $100 million in Series D funding last year.  The company also now offers an accelerated underwriting life insurance product in collaboration with Fortune 500 company Brighthouse Financial.

According to a LinkedIn profile, Mak is based in New York.

The company agreed to invest nearly $6 million into its second headquarters location in Durham, according to the terms of an incentive agreement signed by the company and the State of North Carolina in August 2019.  The terms of that agreement also include the creation of 377 jobs, with 339 new jobs, based in the Durham office location of the company, with average wages of $72,000.

The company has more than 150 jobs listed available on its careers website, with many listings noted as available to be based in Durham.
